Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an official Marine Corps website?

No. Boots and Utes is an independent informational site. It is not affiliated with the U.S. Marine Corps or any government agency. Use it as a research aid, then verify important decisions with official sources.

Does the site cover every Marine job yet?

Not yet. The occupational-field structure is in place, and the site is being filled in by phase. Some pages are permanent authored content already, while other hubs are still short summary pages so the public URL structure does not keep changing.

Why are there no Marine medic or Marine doctor career pages?

Because those are not Marine MOS paths. The Navy provides medical, dental, and chaplain support to Marine units. That is why you will see Marine career content focused on jobs Marines actually own, while medical support topics are explained through the Navy relationship instead of treated as Marine MOS pages.

Which test-prep guide should I start with?

If you are going enlisted, start with the Marine ASVAB study guide. If your recruiter offers the at-home route, add the PiCAT guide. If you are applying for a Marine officer aviation path, go straight to the ASTB-E guide.

Do affiliate links make products cost more?

The site may earn compensation when readers purchase through selected test-prep links, but the disclosure language used on those pages states that it does not add extra cost to you. Those links appear only on pages where the destination matches the subject of the guide.

Can this site answer recruiting or eligibility questions for my specific case?

No. Boots and Utes cannot provide recruiting advice, waiver guidance, medical screening help, legal advice, or official benefits determinations. For questions tied to your personal case, use official Marine and government channels.
